Throughout the week before there was a ton of activities to do around campus. We had the Fauxsino, which is a night we get to act like real big spenders and gamble the night away. We also had the Hillcat Hacker, one of my favorite homecoming activities, which is a fundraiser golf tournament where we turn the whole campus ground into a golf course. Friday night we had a bonfire on campus and they introduced all the basketball players. We got to eat lots of food and had a great night of socializing. Saturday was game day. Girls played first and played a great game, but didn't quite have enough to get the win. As for the boys, that's a different story. They pretty much stomped their opponent with a 65 point win.

On a sad note, this past weekend the Hillcat family lost a member of their family. Tyler Brown, a sophomore on the baseball team, had a car accident late Friday night. Tyler went 6-0 last year as a freshman and closed the game for the Hillcats in the SAC Tournament last year to get the win. Tyler was a great person inside and out with a great attitude about life. I am so grateful to have know him and be a little part of his life. Tyler will be a great loss to this Hillcat family. He will be truly missed! RIP TB23

Ashlie Fauchier #3 :)

Hey Hillcat fans!

I know everyone has been a little shaken up by the earthquakes around the Oklahoma area, but those really are not even earthquakes. Your Hillcat softball team has been working so hard through the five weeks of 6am workouts and swimming that when we hit in the cage it sends a HUGE vibration through the state. But, all we're doing is sending a message to the rest of the SAC that the RSU Hillcats are getting ready for that National Championship! Let's just say those were our warning shots.
Honestly, the girls and I have been working so hard, getting stronger and faster. I can not wait 'til season. The rough part is going to be the breaks that are approaching very soon. Christmas break is about a month long, and that is a long time away from the girls and the daily routines we do everyday. But, I know my team and, as dedicated as they are to the team and the game, they will not let a break stop them from working hard and getting better. No Days Off!
So the next time you feel an "earthquake," just know that it is your Hillcats Softball team hitting the cages.

Ashlie Fauchier #3 :)

Introduction :)

Hi Hillcat fans!

My name is Ashlie Fauchier and I'm this year’s blogger for the Hillcats Softball team. I just wanted to introduce myself and let you know a little about me and the softball program.

I am from Choctaw, OK. I have been here at RSU since my freshman year as the starting shortstop. I am a junior on and off the field and majoring in Elementary Education through the Cameron program here on campus. I am one of eight returners from last year and I couldn't imagine playing anywhere else. I chose Rogers State for multiple reasons. For one, the beautiful campus. When my mom and I came on my visit we were coming up the hill towards campus and my mom turned to me and said," uh oh!" I asked why she said that and she replied, "This is it!" I guess she was right. But, the campus was not the only reason. I highly admire Coach Dicus and the program he has built at RSU. After meeting with him and touring the campus RSU was most definitely the place for me. Going on my third year, I still love it here!

But enough about me. Let’s get to the good stuff, my team! This year we have a lot of new faces. We have five freshman, one new sophomore, and eight new juniors. But, I couldn't be more excited. Between the 22 of us we have a great amount of talent. I can't wait for season to start in February! Until then it's grind time all the time. We started 6ams yesterday with Coach Renault. They can be killer, but we know all the pain and soreness will all be worth it when we get that National Championship! After Fall Break we will start workouts in the afternoons as well. Which includes hitting, throwing, running, and of course the pool. Yes, I said the pool. While in the pool we tread water, swim, run, and swing under water. It seems a little weird I know, but it helps a lot with soreness from 6 ams and builds strength.

Well, that's a little look inside a Hillcat softball player’s life and me and who I am. I'm excited to start blogging and updating everyone on what’s going on with the team. If you ever have any questions don't be afraid to ask. :)

Ashlie Fauchier #3

2011 Blizzard

Well, as most of you know, we here in Claremore got quite a bit of snow. I think the final tally was 25+ but I could be wrong. Not entirely sure to be honest. With all the snow we recieved, the campus was closed for 6 days total. 4 one week and 2 the next. And of course with the time off, some of us softball players took full advantage of the snow :) Our first game is scheduled for tomorrow at Bacone but I believe we are trying to get a new location to play Wednesday but again I am not entirely sure. Anyhow, thought some of you followers would enjoy some snow pictures of us softballers :) Two pictures are of our field after the snow and the other 3 are of us having fun.

<img style="MARGIN: 0px 10px 10px 0px; I know it has be SO long since my last blog and I apologize for that. Guess seniorits kicked in early this year :) This season might be the most exciting yet. Besides the fact that it is my senior season, the team has returned twelve girls from last season and has brought in five new faces rounding out one heck of a team. Our five new faces include two new pitchers, Ashley Wailand from Iowa and Amanda Edwards from Canada and both have good arms. Alongside them are our three new freshman, Taran Threet, Kristen Blasingame, and Kirsten Leppla whom all bring new and exciting talent to the team. Our small fall season went well. Out of maybe twelve games we only dropped two of them. And in less than twenty days, our spring season starts off at Bacone College on Feb 15th. Our full schedule is online and we have posters and wallet sized schedules available at the college. Featured on the poster are fellow seniors Sarah Harvey and Brittany White and on the wallet schedule is fellow senior Dina Ortiz. Remaining seniors include Angelina Vines, Logan Zamora, and Tanya Koch. Seven familiar faces that want to go out with a bang. Softball aside, school has been pretty much the same as it was in previous years; fun at times and then stressful at other times but we all know that overall education is the most important thing. We seven seniors are so close to being finished, we can taste it. Especially with almost all of us finishing either this spring or next fall and that in itself is very exciting. We are all very excited for this upcoming season to start and we hope to see all of our fans, past and present, out on game days showing their support. I will try my best to keep everyone informed and up to date on this blog. For both softball and school. Has been for over a week now. Finals were the first week of May and I had one every day. It was alright though. Wasn't till the last test did I start feeling tired. On top of finals, we had to play 3 games on that Tuesday. Final in the morning, travel and play in the afternoon, then get back late. It was an adventure. Then after our last finals on Thursday we left for the conference tournament in OKC. Then it was game time Friday. We played SNU first and although we hit, we hit the ball right to people. Whereas they would get gap shots or little bloops. We lost to SNU making us play against the fence in our evening game against NWOSU. Unfortanently we had the same thing happen to us in that game as well. We keep hitting the ball right to people. In one inning we had 3 well hit balls caught right at the fence by the NWOSU's left fielder. Losing to NWOSU ended our season. Our final record was 35-26 which is a winning season. And the best part I think is that we have no seniors graduating :) On top of a winning season, we had four Hillcats earn honors. Brittany "B" White earned first-team all conference. Freshman Linsey Curtis and Ashlie Fauchier earned second-team all conference. Fauchier also represents RSU on the SAC Golden Glove team. And Taryn Herndandez earned honorable mention all conference. Im proud of my teammates and look forward to my senior year. And it was requested that I post some pictures of us in action so here are some...

Thanks for the support and hope to give some summer updates. I know its been SOOOO long since I last wrote. It was one crazy April. Softball games every other day, school winding down mean lots of last minute late nights :), and the weather not knowing what it wanted to do, be sunny or rain. Softball wise we've been struggling alil but still hanging in there. The big SAC conference tournament is this weekend and if we play like we can we're in. Things have be challenging. We've had some significant injuries that have pushed people and had some people play out of position but we kept fighting. On April 21st we had our 2nd annual athletic banquet which was so much fun. All the girls got all dressed up and looked so pretty. I promise you, without numbers on our backs, its hard to know who we are lol Everyone looked amazing that night and alot of well deserving people were honored. Of the softball team, Miss Linsey Curtis received the Offensive Player of the Year, Miss Ashlie Fauchier received the Defensive Player of the Year, while I received the Hillcat Award. All of us were greatly honored and happy.

Here are the girls :)

School has been challenging for me this past month. Deadlines for papers, continued online work, quizzes, tests, some lack of sleep...it was all there in April. It was times like that I greatly appreciate professors working with athletes. Them understanding that we sometimes need an extra day or so to understand something a little better before we take a test or that we need extra time with them understanding something. For professors like that, I greatly appreciate the time and effort you put in to work with us athletes. And this week is finals week. The semester boils down to this week. I've got a final everyday but due to softball that might change but it won't be a giant hurt to me. Still gotta take the tests. I'll let everyone know how the remainder of softball turns out.

kb#13

Give My Girl Props!!!

Ok!! So don't know if ya'll know but my teammate, Lindsey Curtis, (who's one of the sweetest people on this earth) was chosen as the Conference Player of the Week for March 8th-14th. I know I'm a little late but I didn't find out till yesterday. Lindsey is a freshman but she has already made her mark on Hillcat history and the amazing part is that there's still season left :) (not to mention 3 more years) There is an entire article about Lindsey's softball accomplishments on the RSU athletic website. On top of being a great softball player, she's also a tremendous and beautiful person and I just wanted to wish her the biggest congratulations and wanted everyone to know. Great job girl!! Much love!!

kb#13

p.s. We faced Grand View University and Evangel University this past weekend and came out with four wins. We started both days alil rough around the edges with mistakes but something about the RSU softball team is that we never quit. We never stop till its over and that's exactly what we did. We got behind in one game both on Saturday and Sunday but even if it was down by two or by five, we never stopped. We came from behind and performed overall really well. Coach Dicus has given us a team quote this weekend (whether he knows it or not) and we'll prolly now play the entire season by it: "Have you ever been to Yellowstone? Be the bear that breaks the window of the minivan for the picnic inside!! Oh it was so funny being all huddled up and him saying that but we did just that. We had bears and we all had a very nice picnic. :) We're playing our first conference games today against Oklahoma Baptist University so it should be a good show. (hope it warms up outside). Wish us luck!! Worth and played in the Cowtown Classic and I've gotta say for not having alot of opportunities to practice on the dirt we did not too bad. I thought that we hit amazingly!! Since the start of the season we have a total of 16 homeruns which is pretty legit :) Our defense has been alil like a sea-saw but it'll get better with time. There have been some costly errors at the wrong moments but I believe those will become non-existent soon. Our pitchers did really well this weekend both in the circle and at the plate. If you guys wanna know the whole story just go to the Hillcat athletic page, click softball, then read the archives. We make our home field debut this weekend (weather permitting). We're suppose to get snow tomorrow which I'm not looking forward to at all then good sunny weather Saturday and then rain on Sunday. Gotta love Oklahoma weather... Right now we're just getting ready for our games this weekend with outside practices and trying to have our field prepared for this weekend. I'll leave all ya'll with how my mind was thinking the day of our first game...It was the morning of our first game at Bacone and I had a test that morning that I didn't feel very prepared for personally. My issue was which do I give more attention, my test or first game? lol don't worry parents I focused on my test THEN put my mind on our games. And just to let you all know I passed the test with flying colors :) -Kb#13

Snow Days at RSU

So who's tired of all the snow? ME!!!! Snow makes practicing softball really hard. I think we've been outside on our field maybe like three times which kinda makes me nervous since we start season Feb. 16 which is less than a week. However, there are some benefits of snow days :) The last big snow/ice storm that hit classes got canceled Thursday afternoon and all day Friday. What was even better than that was the sledding. Some of us softball girls went out sledding here on campus. Now if you know what the campus here in Claremore looks like then you'll know there are tons of hills to sled down and if you don't know, I'm telling ya, lots and lots of hills :) We started at the soccer field and we had a trashcan lid, laundry baskets, storage lids, and this one really slick thing that I can't remember the name of; it worked the best though. We were at the soccer field for maybe about ten minutes and then we walked across campus to the big hill at the front of the school that you can see from the road. We had to go to an area away from the pond that sits at the bottom. Wouldn't have been good to have one of us sledding into that freezing cold water. Our path was between the two big trees out front and it was so much fun. I actually sled into and under one tree and got stuck there till my teammate pulled me out lol. It was so much fun. When we got back we made hot chocolate and just sat, listened to music, and just talked. Later that night some of us sat and watched a movie. It was a good day to a good snow day. But now I'm ready for some warm weather and for season to start. Oh!! By the way, baseball/softball season posters are out. They look good I must say myself :) They'll be around campus and hopefully around the community. Pray for warm weather and I'll write again soon.

Kb#13

Poster Pictures

Hey! Ok so yesterday I along with my two returning teammates and three baseball players represented RSU softball and baseball by taking pictures. Now you may be thinking that they're just pictures but these are more than just pictures...these were pictures for the softball/baseball posters and I was nervous as heck!! I did feel so honored to be chosen to be on the poster and softball booklet but I was still nervous...we all were (well all us girls were). What if none of the pictures turned out good? What if we looked goofy? OMG! What if our hair messed up? :) jk but seriously it was nerve racking. But once I got up there it wasn't too bad. I still felt like I didn't know that to do. But I think the hardest part was trying to make something that came naturally to me like fielding a grounder and posing in it. Or adjusting my "pose" to something that worked for the camera. Overall I think that all the pictures were good, both guys and girls and I can't wait to see the finished product :) Representing RSU Softball is such an honor to me and I hope to dominate when season rolls around. Season is in only three weeks!! It'll be here before we know it :) Ttyl! *KB13*

Back in the Habit

Hey everyone! Sorry its been FOREVER since I've written. Christmas break was okay. I went home to Anadarko, OK and really relaxed. I'll admit that when I left school I was so use to having something to do every single day and when I went home I didn't. It felt really weird to me. Christmas was really fun though. I really enjoy being around my family and sharing laughs. And then New Years was fun. Every year my mom and I light sparklers and run out in the street. Its funny when cars slow down and you know they're watching thinkin' crazy people. lol :) I didn't get to relax and do nothing the whole time. I had my christmas workout that I had to do so I could stay in shape for when school started back up. Sometimes doing workouts over the breaks are hard because sometimes you don't have the faculities to workout or the equipment. It can be challenging. And another hard part is working out on my own. Having no one next to me makes things harder to me. I like working out with people. But now I'm back here at good ole RSU and getting back in the swing of things is kinda tiring :) 6 a.m.'s, 8 o'clock classes, just classes overall, afternoon practices, and then homework. After "relaxing" for so long, getting up and going is kinda hard but I'll make it. Im looking forward to starting season which opens up in a month! Im really excited. Excited to see the team out on the field and doing what we do best :)

Finals Week

Hey :)
So, its finals week here at good ole' RSU and it's stressful. The whole process is draining. Gotta study sufficiently to make sure you do well on the test, then when you get into the test you forget almost everything you've studied so that cause anxiety which you already had going into the test. Then after you turn in the test you worry about how you did and how much it will affect your grade and if you'll still pass the class. Me, I've got a class that Im border-line A/B and I took my final this morning and it was hard. It was the American Chemistry Society standardized exam (if the title doesn't scare you the test would've). Even after studying I wasn't sure about half of the material on it so now Im stressing over my overall grade. Grades are very important (duh) :) Not only are there test during finals but theres papers due and presentations due and that can add more pressure. Good time management and preparation is important...along with lack of sleep :) jk jk thats not good to do. I've got 3 more finals to go including 2 in one day but this is part of college. Finals, stress, anxiety, all of it, but it all comes with a rewarding price in the end...a degree.

The Final Push

Hey everyone.
Well, this is almost it for the fall. Only two more weeks of school then its Christmas vaca. Last week was so much fun. Got to spend time with family and friends and another plus...got to eat alot of amazing food. I stuffed myself beyond anything I've ever done. That's the best part about going home, good home cooked meals. My favorite...my mom's blueberry cheesecake. Oh my goodness I love that!! I ate it all :) Going home is a very exciting thing because we don't get to see our families as much as we would like to. Sometimes, some athletes don't get to see they're families on the holidays because they're playing. Its sad. But then there are those times when going home is well worth it. I have a teammate that surprised her mom for thanksgiving. Her mom knew she was coming home for Christmas but didn't think she'd be able to come home for thanksgiving. Well my teammate got a flight home on Tuesday and surprised her mom big time. I bet the facial expressions were tearful yet exciting :) Those are the moments that everyone loves and are priceless when they're rare. But now we're back and its the final push for the finish line. One more week of lecture in classes and then next week its the stressful finals week. But with good planning and good time management it should all be good. Im just ready for spring to get here so we can play :)

5:30 Alarms

So, we all know how it feels to get up early for work or for class but for we student athletes we sometimes get up really early for other reasons. Many sports teams get up before the sun and do workouts. We do. Monday thru Thursday (its only today and tomorrow this week :)) for cardio workouts and lifting. Its really hard to get up when my alarm goes off at 5:30 in the morning but I gotta do it. We all have to do it. Just knowing that we're going to go through pain and sweat that early...ugh it just makes me tired thinking about it lol. We run sprints, suicides, lots of pushups, body squats, and probably anything else you can think of in the mornings. However, with all the hard work we've been doing I can see the benefits of if. Girls are getting faster and stronger. We're pushing each other to be better and thats what a team does, we push one another to strive to be our best. Thats the best part of being on a team. No matter the pain, the sweat, or the early mornings, there's always gonna be someone right there at your side doing the same. And getting up early isn't always a bad thing. Every week we have a game day and thats like our reward for working hard. We enjoy game days because we get to have fun AND we get our workout. Thinking up new games are the best :) 5:30am...I'll see ya next week!!! :) Well, I'll write again soon. I've played third for the past two years but I can also play first base. I am majoring in criminal justice and hope to some day become a crime scene investigator. Yes, like the ones on tv but real. I am a high school graduate from Anadarko...little town about 3 hours southwest of here if you were wondering...and I choose to come to RSU because I really enjoyed the total atmosphere. The campus is beautiful, the academics are solid, and I wanted to be a part or something great.

This year's softball team is stacked! We've got talent everywhere! It's very exciting and Im really looking forward to our upcoming season which starts in February. We have three returning juniors and then we have 9 new juniors along with 7 new freshman. Alot of new faces but tons of talent. Right now we're in our off season which consists of workouts. We have 6am workouts monday thru thursday where we lift and do conditioning and then afternoon workouts monday thru thursday where we hit and swim. Now you might be wondering why would a softball team swim but really swimming is very good excercise. It works all of your body and it helps prevent injury.

Well, thats just a glimpse into the life of a lady hillcat softball player and into me and who I am. I'll keep everyone updated on whats going on and how the team is.
