The Final Push

Hey everyone.
Well, this is almost it for the fall. Only two more weeks of school then its Christmas vaca. Last week was so much fun. Got to spend time with family and friends and another plus...got to eat alot of amazing food. I stuffed myself beyond anything I've ever done. That's the best part about going home, good home cooked meals. My favorite...my mom's blueberry cheesecake. Oh my goodness I love that!! I ate it all :) Going home is a very exciting thing because we don't get to see our families as much as we would like to. Sometimes, some athletes don't get to see they're families on the holidays because they're playing. Its sad. But then there are those times when going home is well worth it. I have a teammate that surprised her mom for thanksgiving. Her mom knew she was coming home for Christmas but didn't think she'd be able to come home for thanksgiving. Well my teammate got a flight home on Tuesday and surprised her mom big time. I bet the facial expressions were tearful yet exciting :) Those are the moments that everyone loves and are priceless when they're rare. But now we're back and its the final push for the finish line. One more week of lecture in classes and then next week its the stressful finals week. But with good planning and good time management it should all be good. Im just ready for spring to get here so we can play :)

5:30 Alarms

So, we all know how it feels to get up early for work or for class but for we student athletes we sometimes get up really early for other reasons. Many sports teams get up before the sun and do workouts. We do. Monday thru Thursday (its only today and tomorrow this week :)) for cardio workouts and lifting. Its really hard to get up when my alarm goes off at 5:30 in the morning but I gotta do it. We all have to do it. Just knowing that we're going to go through pain and sweat that early...ugh it just makes me tired thinking about it lol. We run sprints, suicides, lots of pushups, body squats, and probably anything else you can think of in the mornings. However, with all the hard work we've been doing I can see the benefits of if. Girls are getting faster and stronger. We're pushing each other to be better and thats what a team does, we push one another to strive to be our best. Thats the best part of being on a team. No matter the pain, the sweat, or the early mornings, there's always gonna be someone right there at your side doing the same. And getting up early isn't always a bad thing. Every week we have a game day and thats like our reward for working hard. We enjoy game days because we get to have fun AND we get our workout. Thinking up new games are the best :) 5:30am...I'll see ya next week!!! :) Well, I'll write again soon. Ttyl!!!

My Introduction

Hey everyone!! :)
Im Katie Bointy and I'll be writing blogs from the softball field for Rogers State University and Im kinda excited :) Let's talk about me...I am a junior both on the field and in the classroom and I am one of three returning starters from last years squad. I've played third for the past two years but I can also play first base. I am majoring in criminal justice and hope to some day become a crime scene investigator. Yes, like the ones on tv but real. I am a high school graduate from Anadarko...little town about 3 hours southwest of here if you were wondering...and I choose to come to RSU because I really enjoyed the total atmosphere. The campus is beautiful, the academics are solid, and I wanted to be a part or something great.

This year's softball team is stacked! We've got talent everywhere! It's very exciting and Im really looking forward to our upcoming season which starts in February. We have three returning juniors and then we have 9 new juniors along with 7 new freshman. Alot of new faces but tons of talent. Right now we're in our off season which consists of workouts. We have 6am workouts monday thru thursday where we lift and do conditioning and then afternoon workouts monday thru thursday where we hit and swim. Now you might be wondering why would a softball team swim but really swimming is very good excercise. It works all of your body and it helps prevent injury.

Well, thats just a glimpse into the life of a lady hillcat softball player and into me and who I am. I'll keep everyone updated on whats going on and how the team is. If you want to know anything else just ask!
