End of the Year

Well, the 2009-2010 year is over. For both softball and school. Has been for over a week now. Finals were the first week of May and I had one every day. It was alright though. Wasn't till the last test did I start feeling tired. On top of finals, we had to play 3 games on that Tuesday. Final in the morning, travel and play in the afternoon, then get back late. It was an adventure. Then after our last finals on Thursday we left for the conference tournament in OKC. Then it was game time Friday. We played SNU first and although we hit, we hit the ball right to people. Whereas they would get gap shots or little bloops. We lost to SNU making us play against the fence in our evening game against NWOSU. Unfortanently we had the same thing happen to us in that game as well. We keep hitting the ball right to people. In one inning we had 3 well hit balls caught right at the fence by the NWOSU's left fielder. Losing to NWOSU ended our season. Our final record was 35-26 which is a winning season. And the best part I think is that we have no seniors graduating :) On top of a winning season, we had four Hillcats earn honors. Brittany "B" White earned first-team all conference. Freshman Linsey Curtis and Ashlie Fauchier earned second-team all conference. Fauchier also represents RSU on the SAC Golden Glove team. And Taryn Herndandez earned honorable mention all conference. Im proud of my teammates and look forward to my senior year. And it was requested that I post some pictures of us in action so here are some...

Thanks for the support and hope to give some summer updates. Right now Im doing intersession classes which are full classes in just two weeks. Its brutal but very much worth it I believe. Oh and for the spring semester I got A's and B's :) yay me!! Hope the summer will be just as productive. Talk to everyone soon.

Crazy Crazy April

Hey everyone. I know its been SOOOO long since I last wrote. It was one crazy April. Softball games every other day, school winding down mean lots of last minute late nights :), and the weather not knowing what it wanted to do, be sunny or rain. Softball wise we've been struggling alil but still hanging in there. The big SAC conference tournament is this weekend and if we play like we can we're in. Things have be challenging. We've had some significant injuries that have pushed people and had some people play out of position but we kept fighting. On April 21st we had our 2nd annual athletic banquet which was so much fun. All the girls got all dressed up and looked so pretty. I promise you, without numbers on our backs, its hard to know who we are lol Everyone looked amazing that night and alot of well deserving people were honored. Of the softball team, Miss Linsey Curtis received the Offensive Player of the Year, Miss Ashlie Fauchier received the Defensive Player of the Year, while I received the Hillcat Award. All of us were greatly honored and happy.
Here are the girls :)
School has been challenging for me this past month. Deadlines for papers, continued online work, quizzes, tests, some lack of sleep...it was all there in April. It was times like that I greatly appreciate professors working with athletes. Them understanding that we sometimes need an extra day or so to understand something a little better before we take a test or that we need extra time with them understanding something. For professors like that, I greatly appreciate the time and effort you put in to work with us athletes. And this week is finals week. The semester boils down to this week. I've got a final everyday but due to softball that might change but it won't be a giant hurt to me. Still gotta take the tests. I'll let everyone know how the remainder of softball turns out.

Give My Girl Props!!!

Ok!! So don't know if ya'll know but my teammate, Lindsey Curtis, (who's one of the sweetest people on this earth) was chosen as the Conference Player of the Week for March 8th-14th. I know I'm a little late but I didn't find out till yesterday. Lindsey is a freshman but she has already made her mark on Hillcat history and the amazing part is that there's still season left :) (not to mention 3 more years) There is an entire article about Lindsey's softball accomplishments on the RSU athletic website. On top of being a great softball player, she's also a tremendous and beautiful person and I just wanted to wish her the biggest congratulations and wanted everyone to know. Great job girl!! Much love!!

Bear of a Weekend

This past weekend was really productive for the softball team. We faced Grand View University and Evangel University this past weekend and came out with four wins. We started both days alil rough around the edges with mistakes but something about the RSU softball team is that we never quit. We never stop till its over and that's exactly what we did. We got behind in one game both on Saturday and Sunday but even if it was down by two or by five, we never stopped. We came from behind and performed overall really well. Coach Dicus has given us a team quote this weekend (whether he knows it or not) and we'll prolly now play the entire season by it: "Have you ever been to Yellowstone? Be the bear that breaks the window of the minivan for the picnic inside!! Oh it was so funny being all huddled up and him saying that but we did just that. We had bears and we all had a very nice picnic. :) We're playing our first conference games today against Oklahoma Baptist University so it should be a good show. (hope it warms up outside). Wish us luck!! Kb#13

Catch-up

Hello Fans!! :) Well if you didn't know last weekend we Lady Hillcats went down to Ft. Worth and played in the Cowtown Classic and I've gotta say for not having alot of opportunities to practice on the dirt we did not too bad. I thought that we hit amazingly!! Since the start of the season we have a total of 16 homeruns which is pretty legit :) Our defense has been alil like a sea-saw but it'll get better with time. There have been some costly errors at the wrong moments but I believe those will become non-existent soon. Our pitchers did really well this weekend both in the circle and at the plate. If you guys wanna know the whole story just go to the Hillcat athletic page, click softball, then read the archives. We make our home field debut this weekend (weather permitting). We're suppose to get snow tomorrow which I'm not looking forward to at all then good sunny weather Saturday and then rain on Sunday. Gotta love Oklahoma weather... Right now we're just getting ready for our games this weekend with outside practices and trying to have our field prepared for this weekend. I'll leave all ya'll with how my mind was thinking the day of our first game...It was the morning of our first game at Bacone and I had a test that morning that I didn't feel very prepared for personally. My issue was which do I give more attention, my test or first game? lol don't worry parents I focused on my test THEN put my mind on our games. And just to let you all know I passed the test with flying colors :) -Kb#13

Snow Days at RSU

So who's tired of all the snow? ME!!!! Snow makes practicing softball really hard. I think we've been outside on our field maybe like three times which kinda makes me nervous since we start season Feb. 16 which is less than a week. However, there are some benefits of snow days :) The last big snow/ice storm that hit classes got canceled Thursday afternoon and all day Friday. What was even better than that was the sledding. Some of us softball girls went out sledding here on campus. Now if you know what the campus here in Claremore looks like then you'll know there are tons of hills to sled down and if you don't know, I'm telling ya, lots and lots of hills :) We started at the soccer field and we had a trashcan lid, laundry baskets, storage lids, and this one really slick thing that I can't remember the name of; it worked the best though. We were at the soccer field for maybe about ten minutes and then we walked across campus to the big hill at the front of the school that you can see from the road. We had to go to an area away from the pond that sits at the bottom. Wouldn't have been good to have one of us sledding into that freezing cold water. Our path was between the two big trees out front and it was so much fun. I actually sled into and under one tree and got stuck there till my teammate pulled me out lol. It was so much fun. When we got back we made hot chocolate and just sat, listened to music, and just talked. Later that night some of us sat and watched a movie. It was a good day to a good snow day. But now I'm ready for some warm weather and for season to start. Oh!! By the way, baseball/softball season posters are out. They look good I must say myself :) They'll be around campus and hopefully around the community. Pray for warm weather and I'll write again soon.

Poster Pictures

Hey! Ok so yesterday I along with my two returning teammates and three baseball players represented RSU softball and baseball by taking pictures. Now you may be thinking that they're just pictures but these are more than just pictures...these were pictures for the softball/baseball posters and I was nervous as heck!! I did feel so honored to be chosen to be on the poster and softball booklet but I was still nervous...we all were (well all us girls were). What if none of the pictures turned out good? What if we looked goofy? OMG! What if our hair messed up? :) jk but seriously it was nerve racking. But once I got up there it wasn't too bad. I still felt like I didn't know that to do. But I think the hardest part was trying to make something that came naturally to me like fielding a grounder and posing in it. Or adjusting my "pose" to something that worked for the camera. Overall I think that all the pictures were good, both guys and girls and I can't wait to see the finished product :) Representing RSU Softball is such an honor to me and I hope to dominate when season rolls around. Season is in only three weeks!! It'll be here before we know it :) Ttyl! *KB13*

Back in the Habit

Hey everyone! Sorry its been FOREVER since I've written. Christmas break was okay. I went home to Anadarko, OK and really relaxed. I'll admit that when I left school I was so use to having something to do every single day and when I went home I didn't. It felt really weird to me. Christmas was really fun though. I really enjoy being around my family and sharing laughs. And then New Years was fun. Every year my mom and I light sparklers and run out in the street. Its funny when cars slow down and you know they're watching thinkin' crazy people. lol :) I didn't get to relax and do nothing the whole time. I had my christmas workout that I had to do so I could stay in shape for when school started back up. Sometimes doing workouts over the breaks are hard because sometimes you don't have the faculities to workout or the equipment. It can be challenging. And another hard part is working out on my own. Having no one next to me makes things harder to me. I like working out with people. But now I'm back here at good ole RSU and getting back in the swing of things is kinda tiring :) 6 a.m.'s, 8 o'clock classes, just classes overall, afternoon practices, and then homework. After "relaxing" for so long, getting up and going is kinda hard but I'll make it. Im looking forward to starting season which opens up in a month! Im really excited. Excited to see the team out on the field and doing what we do best :)
